Three Exercises to Enhance Lower Body Eccentric Contractions

It is no question that the ability to contract essential muscle groups in the lower body determines one's ability to effectively sustain G-forces for long periods of time. The contraction of these muscle groups is defined by the stretch-shorten contraction cycle, where the muscles are lengthened prior to a subsequent shortening. During these compressive phases the muscles are able to store elastic potential energy. The ability to lengthen the muscle following compression is a large determinant of sustained G-tolerance, as the energy stored during the contractive phase can amplify force production.

In this video you will find three rudimentary exercises to build speed, improve force production and explosive energy in the lower body and core. Performing these exercises will improve your ability to store elastic potential energy over the course of multiple compressive cycles.
